Mt Sinai Congregational Church, UCC

We are a congregation committed to justice. All are welcome into our full life and ministry regardless of age,
race, abilities, economic or marital status, gender, sexual orientation, or gender identification.
We are a church that is open and affirming of all people, as we are each made in the image of God,
The Season of Lent is a journey of therapy for the soul. We begin the journey on Ash Wednesday with an affirmation of sobering reality: Life is limited. We are born, we die. The question that drives us, then, is “How is it with me?” Life is difficult, to be sure, but am I compounding the difficulty? What does it mean to be free in Christ?” The lectionary texts for each Sunday in Lent help us to ask those questions—
- Who do I want to be? Who do I not want to be? Who am I?
- What do I do with human suffering?
- How do I balance “letting go and letting God” with the yearning for justice?
- What does it mean to “believe?” What is eternal life?
- How can I live in grace?
- Where do I find a loving and nonviolent God in the cross?
Those, and other questions put us on sacred ground, knowing that we don’t ask those questions in a vacuum. Rather, every step we take to grow in the Good News is a step accompanied by Jesus. Every step we take to shed those things that prevent us from growing is a step accompanied by Jesus. We are walking on Sacred Ground.

The Early Service is a Meditative Communion service. Worship begins with prayer and then periods of silence . You will be led in prayer, scripture will be read, a homily offered and then we share Communion around the table.
Worship at 10:00 am
This is a traditional service. We sing hymns, have group prayers, and follow the church year. Communion is held on the first Sunday of every month. After the service, we share a coffee hour together. A staffed nursery is open during the service, though children are also welcome to stay with their parents.
Our Welcome Service on the last Sunday of the month has been designed to intentionally include persons of differing abilities from local group homes. This service grew out of the desire to have a safe place for everyone to worship together. After the service all are invited to stay for light refreshments.
